What the role is responsible for.
- Classify technology and determine licensing requirements across programmes.
- Advise engineering teams before a transfer happens rather than after.
- Prepare and manage licence applications and the record trail behind them.
- Run internal audit of controlled-technology handling and close the findings.
- Deliver export control training that engineers will actually retain.
What we need you to bring.
- Six or more years in export control, trade compliance, or a closely related regulatory function.
- Working command of the applicable control regimes and their practical interpretation.
- Ability to read technical documentation and classify from it.
- Record of holding a compliance position under schedule pressure.
- Eligibility for sponsored Secret vetting.
Useful, not essential.
- Space, defence, or advanced-materials sector experience.
- Familiarity with more than one national control regime.
- Professional certification in trade compliance.
We read the preferred list as a description of a useful background, not a checklist. Candidates who meet the required list and none of the preferred are regularly hired.
Who you would be joining.
Regulatory Affairs sits within Strategy & Policy and works alongside the Ethics & Governance office and divisional programme managers.
What to know before you apply.
Some programme detail is disclosed only after clearance; the classification work itself begins immediately.
All candidates undergo comprehensive vetting. Reasonable accommodation is available at any stage — say so in your first note and it will be arranged. We do not use unverified third-party recruiters, and we never ask a candidate for a fee.
